Lymph Glands
The lymph glands are usually found in clusters which can be felt externally by palpation. They are identified by the names of the areas of the body in which they can be found; cervical lymph glands, (on sides of the neck); underarm lymph glands (in arm pits) and groin lymph glands. Since the number of channels leaving the lymph glands is always less than those entering, the lymph is channeled into a progressively smaller number within the lymphatic system. The most important of these is the thoracic duct, into which is fed the lymph from the entire lower half of the body.
If the lymph flow is slow, because there is no equivalent of the ‘cardiac pump' to stimulate flow. The flow and action within the Lymphatic System is dependant on muscular movement and contraction and it follows therefore as we stimulate the Lymph nodes, significant benefits result particularly in people who have a sedentary lifestyle or are overweight. Lymph drainage even re-moulds the figure, because of the more even distribution of body fluids.
The most significant indications of old age, that is to say, degeneration and atrophy, have many causes. The most important of these is, without a doubt, the dehydration caused by slowing down of the lymphatic circulation, because the waste products poison the cells, and causes them to calcify. On the other hand, when Lymph circulates normally, skin regeneration takes place.
